HOLLYWOOD HK day 1
April 9, 2004 April is here and it means the first HK TOYCON of the year! If you will remember, Mr. Lau asked us all to join him at SIXS (his newest gallery) during the last TOYCON, and being the good little toyheads we are , we sent our gal Nichole, directly there FIRST. Lucky for us, Lau released two figures today 003 BB and 059 Lazy Square (also released in London at Maharishi), and also released were exclusive "see you at SIXS" tees and for a hot second a Tattoo figure appeared. Meanwhile at the HKEC, The new format for HK TOYCON started today. It features a bangin' Levi's exhibit, lots of one offs with the theme "Hollywood" as the base (the new format), and the usual assortment of our favorite companies and their booths. Starting at Patchwork, our very own Tristan Eaton was there to sign our exclusive DUNNY figure, which drops in the US on the 22nd of April. Patchwork also featured more exclusive designs of David "UGLYDOLLS" Horvath's newest figures NOUPA, and a range of products coming in the next months (including some hot to deaf SCARYGIRLS ). AND the launch of a New toy magazine!!! TM! TOY2R was the next stop, first checking the exclusive N.E.R.D qee, 8" OBEY qee, fresh Knucklebear variants, and More! Mad Barbarians were in the spot, signing like "mad". Next door, Colan Ho has some nice new figures out as well, and the make your own figures guys were steady reppin'. Around the corner, ITRangers LAB is in the midst of a major ad campaign with San Miguel beer and their new character MIGU, so besides the free beer, you can get lots of free C.I. Boys stuff. But more importantly, they launched their insane White Destroyer show project with Sharpie markers. Insane designs applied to the ITR whip. And across the way, Jason Siu launched SUPERNICE new speaker figures called N-3b which features 150watt speakers (and three at that) all wrapped in a tight camo form. And everyone did there own little HOLLYWOOD styled white variants. Lastly on day one, Brothersfree, perennial favorites and absent at the last TOYCON, made a HUGE appearance with their Storm MONO, Bj Bowl (can you say "D_O_P_E") and the tough TANK HOOD figures. And remember that Brothersanger sign in December? Well he is here and ANGRY , they had to get a straight jacket just for him to stand still... Get ready for more tomorrow!
